Saving on water bills

Although we are fortunate in the UK to be able to take a clean water supply more or less for granted, remember that the companies behind the water supply exist to make a profit. We pay them to supply water and have come expect it to flow from our taps. If there is no rain (difficult to imagine lately, but some of us remember the summer 1976…), the supply runs dry and water prices rise. If you have a home with quite a few occupants, it may surprise you to discover how much you can save by installing a water meter.

Given that bills are averaged out over the population, there are winners and losers, so having a specific measurement can as much as halve your annual bill.
