Property renovation, do not go overboard

If you want to get the most of the money that you spend on your property then try and spend it nearer when you are selling it rather than when you have just bought it. Nice fresh looking furniture and carpets will obviously enhance your sale price.

If you do need to buy fixtures and fittings relatively soon after you buy your property then make sure that you get the most of them. For example if you are going to buy new carpets then leave your shoes at the door and try and persuade any visitors to your house to do the same. If you feel compelled to wear shoes then at least try slippers as they will wear the carpet much less.
