Spring clean
You will be surprised and how much "stuff" you accumulate during your life. We probably have some neanderthal instinct programmed into us to "hoard" as many possessions as possible.
Once every few months it is worth setting aside a day at the weekend to go through all of the things that you have in house and being ruthless as to whether you are every going to need them. A good rule of thumb is that anything you haven't used in the past 6-12 months is probably not worth keeping.
With the advent of eBay you have a shop window to the world so take advantage of it. It is only really antiques that appreciate in value and so the sooner you get rid of your clutter the higher the price you are likely to get for it.
An added advantage of having a house free from clutter is that you can sometimes bring down the cost of the house contents that you need to insure which in turn brings down your premiums.
In our view the only things you need to keep are items 1) you use 2) which have sentimental value 3) antiques; and 4) which you are going to hand down to the younger children in the family!
