How to increase your salary

Not happy with your current salary? Well don't worry there are some easy ways to increase it.....

If you want to stay in your current job then the first step is to see what other people are earning for the same job that you perform. Look at job adverts and websites so see what salaries are being offered for people in your position. If people are being offered a lot more then you can use this as ammunition to ask your boss for a rise.

If you think you are being paid market rate or if you feel awkward about asking for a payrise then there are other ways to ask for more money. You can say to your boss that you need some more money to "pay for a holiday" "put a deposit on a house etc.." and you are wondering whether there is any overtime or special projects that you could undertake for some more money.

This way you are giving something extra to your boss for the extra money rather than just asking for a simple pay rise.

If you are happy to leave your job then get a recruitment consultant to advise you on what the market rate for your job is and to find a suitable company for you. Even better you could get some careers advice because you may find that you have enough skills to perform a completely different job on a completely different paygrade!
