As insurance can be optional it can sometimes be tempting not to take it at all. However if things go wrong and you don't have insurance it can be one of the biggest expenses of your life.

There are some markets where insurance is generally over priced (like warranty insurance on white goods) and which you would often be well advised to sterr clear of. On the other hand there are markets such as building insurance which are pretty competitive and because of the cost of the peril it is certainly worth investing in a good policy.
